We lost several of our massive trees in the storms but
we now have a view of Seddonville and the Mokihinui River

Old Forest is the name of our property in the Mokihinui Preserve near Seddonville which is in the South Island. It is 10.22 hectares of native bush; a very rough piece of land but beautiful with many native trees and plants which include beech, nikau, king tree ferns (mamaku) and a stand of rimu, plus native birds, not far from the Mokihinui River and the wild West Coast. This blog is to record our annual holidays on Old Forest so isn't updated between our visits.

love forests pictures.
Thanks so much for comments Jingle, it is a beautiful spot.
I love seeing pictures of NZ which I've been fascinated by since reading Elizabeth Goudge's GREEN DOLPHIN STREET. (I doubt she'd ever been there either.)
I like the fact that it has a sign called old forest. In case you forgot and thought it was a new one.

Thank you so much for sharing your photo's of the beautiful Seddon area on the South Island of New Zealand! In January and February 2004 my daughter and family and me passed through this area.
Thanks for your visit!
Thank you so much for stopping by. Amazing that you and your family passed through Seddonville as not even many New Zealanders have been here or know where it is ;-)
